WTC
As today is the fifth anniversary of 9/11, I thought I should write something in memoriam. Then I thought of a terrible story I heard that was related, and I decided I would rant on that instead. In the Peter Griffin "What Grinds My Gears"-style. Which is, apparently, the only thing that blogs are good for. The author of a blog only wants to complain, and the readers only want to know what pissed him off. And so...
Do you know what really grinds my gears? Bad stories. "I had top pair and raised, so he matched my bet and rivered me." That happens every fucking hand, no one wants to hear about why you lost. It's a fucking game of chance, what did you think was going to happen? Poker stories are the worst, but there are lots of other bad stories too. My friends once dragged me into a forum for discussing September 11th, where people were taking turns sharing their memories of their days. The second or third guy to go up actually lived in NYC at the time of the tragedy, so you might've thought that he would have something interesting to say. Well, life is full of disappointment. I can sum up his story for you right now, by telling you that he heard the news on the subway. That's it, he wasn't even anywhere near the World Trade Center. Thanks for wasting five minutes of my life, you prick. No one cares about your stupid melancholy, don't ever stand up in front of a crowd again (unless it's to kill yourself, and thus better society).
